The new Jamboard at Cymru Care Training[/caption]As part of the plan to improve training facilities, Cymru Care has invested heavily in a new, much larger training room at their offices in Cross Hands.
The new training room will be used for Essential Skills workshops and controlled tasks, delivery of training to learners towards their Diplomas in Health & Social Care, in-house training for Cymru Care staff, and it will also double as meeting room for staff meetings, Board meetings and Consortium group meetings.
As part of the new furniture and equipment, the room boasts a state-of-the-art interactive, touch-screen, display device – a Google Jamboard. The Jamboard fits perfectly within the company’s G-suite for Education provision and its stunning 55-inch, 4K display shines as the focal point for creativity and interactive training. It’s easy to move around the office with its purpose-built portable stand and single-cable setup. Jamboard brings teams together with the same real-time co-authoring that powers G-Suite’s apps, unlocking creative potential whether in the same room or across the world, using the Jamboard app on a phone or tablet.
Pam Henderson, Cymru Care’s ESQ tutor, has already been using the Jamboard as part of her workshops and has enjoyed involving her learners in the interactive, learning environment it creates.

Cymru Care Training Learner of the Year Awards 2016-17

Cymru Care Training today held the annual Learner of the Year Awards, for learners studying qualifications through the company during the 2016-17 academic year.

The Learner of the Year Award at Level 2 was presented to Wioleta Dabek, a member of staff at Sudbury House, for her outstanding effort throughout her award.

The Learner of the Year Award at Level 3 was presented to Alice Cann, a senior member of staff at Llanfair Grange Residential Home, who completed her award to an excellent standard within 8 months.

The Learner of the Year Award at Level 5 was presented to Claire Horton, who is the Deputy Manager at Maesteilo Care Home. Claire completed her Registered Managers Award on top of her Advanced Practice Award, within a short period of time.

The Level 2 Certificate Progress Prize was awarded to Chandee Barrett-Thomas, a care worker at Yr Hafan Nursing Home, for making a real effort through her Level 2 Certificate award.

The Level 2 Diploma Progress Prize was awarded jointly to Richard Bunford, a care worker at Maesteilo Care Home, and Samuel Yeboah, a care worker at Y Plas Nursing Home, for their dedication to their Level 2 awards.

The Level 3 Progress Prize was awarded to Michelle Thomas, a care worker at Plas y Derwen Care Home, who was also very committed to her Level 3 award.

The Level 5 Progress Prize was awarded to Melanie Davies, a Senior member of staff at Maes y Felin Care Home, who showed dedication to the completion of her Level 5 award.

Mr Edward Jones, Managing Director at Cymru Care Training, said, “We are delighted to present these learners with awards to recognise their superb effort and achievements. Their assessors have been thoroughly impressed with the candidates’ work ethic and with what they have produced during their work-based learning programmes, with Cymru Care Training.”



These programmes, led by the Welsh Government, are supported by the European Social Fund.

Cymru Care Training achieves Gold Standard

SWHA Gold logoCymru Care Training was recently awarded the Gold level Small Workplace Health Award by Healthy Working Wales, for promotion of health, work and wellbeing.

The Small Workplace Health Award is the national mark of quality for health and wellbeing aimed at organisations employing fewer than 50 people.
It is a developmental process, based on good practice and improvement and it can be used to support the creation of activities that promote the health and well-being of employees. The award has been developed to target the key preventable ill-health issues in your workplace, which will also help to increase organisational performance and productivity.

The three levels of the award, Bronze, Silver and Gold reflect the range of actions that an organisation is taking to promote the health and well-being of its staff.

Managing Director, Edward Jones, stated, “We are delighted to receive this award and I would particularly like to thank our Compliance Manager, Tracy Parkes, who is responsible for all health, safety and wellbeing matters at Cymru Care Training, for all of her hard work in meeting the requirements for Gold standard.”

Macmillan Coffee Morning at Cymru Care Training

Cymru Care Training hosted a Macmillan coffee morning on Friday 29th September in aid of Cancer Support.

Organised by Office Administrator, Louise Harris, and Compliance Manager, Tracy Parkes, the event was run from the Cymru Care Training offices and was attended and supported by members of staff, learners and also staff and customers of local businesses at Cross Hands Business Park.

Cakes and hot drinks were on sale and there were also competitions including a bake-off, a cake bingo and a raffle, which were thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.


The event raised a total of £184.41 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
